As the core engine of Shanghai’s "Bund–Lujiazui–North Bund" golden triangle, the North Bund is advancing with remarkable momentum to fulfill its mission of urban renewal. Here, the 480-meter, 99-story Shanghai North Bund Center is rapidly rising. With a total investment of CNY 19.3 billion, it is set to become the tallest skyscraper in Puxi（west Shanghai） upon its planned completion in 2030.

From the evening of August 22 to noon on August 23, three XCMG concrete pump trucks operated continuously for nearly 20 hours, successfully pumping 2,000 cubic meters of high-strength C80 concrete. This provided solid support for the construction of the core tube’s peripheral structure of this future Puxi landmark.

C80 concrete is known as the "tough guy of the concrete world." Its viscosity is so high that it resembles solidified lava, and even the slightest oversight during pumping can lead to pipe blockages. Coupled with the extreme height of Puxi’s tallest skyscraper, the demands on the pump trucks’ boom stability, pumping efficiency, and power are pushed to the industry’s limits.

Facing the challenge of pumping the formidable C80 concrete, two 72-meter and one 67-meter XCMG pump trucks were entrusted with the critical task of pouring the peripheral structure of the core tube. They excelled in overcoming the dual challenges of high-strength concrete and ultra-high-rise construction:

• ​​Rock-Steady Boom​​: Boom tip vibration amplitude kept below 130mm, ensuring precise and stable continuous operation without manual intervention.
• ​​High Pumping Efficiency​​: An impressive output of 180 m³/h, with zero pipe blockages or failures throughout the process.
• ​​Flawless Execution​​: 2,000 cubic meters of C80 concrete perfectly poured into the formwork.
• ​​Low Fuel Consumption​​: An overall fuel consumption rate of just 0.31 L/m³, balancing efficiency with economy.
• ​​Powerful Performance​​: Equipped with a 540-horsepower engine, effortlessly tackling steep slopes.

XCMG and Shanghai Construction Group have a long-standing partnership. According to Manager Zhang, head of the pump truck business division, the company has purchased over 30 XCMG pump trucks since acquiring its first unit in 2004. "XCMG pump trucks are known for their high efficiency and strong stability, making them our preferred choice for construction projects," he stated.

In the future, the North Bund Center will join the surrounding waterfront and historical buildings in shaping Shanghai’s dazzling skyline. XCMG will continue to uphold its role as a leader in heavy machinery, supporting the realization of more ambitious urban dreams.
