On May 20, the Road Machinery segment of the 8th XCMG International Customer Festival showcased a seamlessly operating smart construction site. Concurrently, XCMG’s suite of integrated intelligent road construction equipment was unveiled in the country.

That same day, the Omani Ministry of Transport and Communications, together with Galfar, organized a field demonstration on AI-enabled asphalt paving technology. The event was held under the framework of the Ministry’s key initiative—the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road Improvement and Expansion Project—a project of strategic significance to Oman's "Vision 2040."

At the desert highway site, seven units of XCMG’s intelligent road construction machinery, including pavers and rollers, successfully executed unmanned paving and compaction of a 12-meter-wide asphalt pavement.

The construction was bolstered by a suite of advanced technologies, including cluster-based high-precision positioning, regional ad-hoc network communication, intelligent perception and coordination, and real-time construction data monitoring. These provided comprehensive support for site management and construction organization amidst challenging conditions.

The demonstration attracted local transport authorities, industry clients, and mainstream media. It was featured on the official website of Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications and by outlets like Muscat Daily. Reports centered on themes such as “AI-powered Paving: Autonomous Asphalt Paving Technologies” gained traction across local media and digital platforms.

This project stands as a significant overseas application of XCMG’s intelligent construction expertise and a notable achievement stemming from the synergy between the company’s twin strategic pillars: internationalization and technological innovation.
