The Largest Hydropower Station in East Africa! XCMG Crane VS Super Project

At the project site of Julius Nyerere hydropower station, the largest hydropower station in East Africa, 9 XCMG cranes are working nonstop. Six XCMG workers are divided into 3 groups to guard the site. After one and a half years, the construction progress of this super project is coming to the end.

A hydropower station with a total investment of more than 2.8 billion US dollars is under construction in the African prairie. Just like ‘making a dojo in the shell of a snail’, the on-site construction is quite challenging: the drop between the upper and lower working faces is nearly 100 meters. The extremely steep ramp and narrow passage makes the mission even harder. Besides, the rainstorm season lasts for three months every year.

XCA60_ E crane, the ‘Ace’ of XCMG’s customized and upgraded intelligent crane works as the main hoisting force. It’s tailored according to the local working conditions in Africa and equipped with the world's first large load single wishbone independent suspension technology. It is flexible in hoisting, transfer, and climbing, and can complete the hoisting of reinforcement and formwork of the project with super efficiency.

So long as XCA60_ E cranes gave good construction performance, the project party bought two more large cranes, namely XCA130L7 and XCA200 to the project construction.

In this wild nature reserve far away from the urban area, there is a lack of water and electricity. Animals are haunting around at any time. To ensure the project service whereas protect personnel at the same time, XCMG adopts a ‘relay’ customized service: 6 people work in pairs and take shift.  It is the unsung heroes that ensure the efficient operation of machines.

For one and a half years, the 9 XCMG cranes never stopped working and the working time is more than 3000 hours. The project party sent a letter of thanks to XCMG:

XCMG has not only provided efficient, reliable and durable cranes, but also brought us experienced service personnel. Thank you, Chinese friends!
